Die hohe Zahl der Interessenten aus den 8. Klassen mit Englisch als erster Fremdsprache zeigt, wie begehrt der seit 1992 bestehende Austausch mit der Arden School in Knowle ist.
Im November lernen die englischen Schülerinnen und Schüler the German way of life kennen und wir im März, was es heißt to be in England , z.B. die daily routine in den Familien kennen zu lernen und manche highlights zu erleben.
Dies können Ausflüge nach London, Birmingham und Stratford sein, der Besuch des Warwick Castle , des Black Country Museum und, und...
Natürlich ist die Teilnahme am Unterricht ein zentraler Punkt. Auch hier gibt es manche Überraschungen, wie wir von einer Teilnehmerin erfahren:
The pupils are all very quiet when a teacher says "Stop talking" or "Don't laugh". And the pupils must wear uniforms which look ..., never mind. But then it's good to wear uniforms because you can't see if someone is rich or poor. The lessons aren't so long as ours, only 30 to 35 minutes. There is a timetable which shows when a class can have lunch. In the cafeteria you have to wait, but that's the same in our school. When you have eaten you have to get up and leave the cafeteria. Going upstairs you have to keep left so that other pupils can go downstairs. I think that's a good solution! The pupils have to go to their teachers, they don't go to the pupils like in our school.
I liked the last day of year 11 and the prom. I liked their costumes and their concert which we watched. This is much better than in Germany.
