Stratford´s claim to fame is to be the birthplace and home of William Shakespeare who is arguably the most important British writer ever. Almost everything in Stratford bears some connection to Shakespeare. We had a guided tour organised by the English teachers and visited the Shakespeare Museum, the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, passed by Mary Arden´s house and Shakespeare´s grave. In general I enjoyed Stratford, but sometimes I felt that it was a little ”too full of Shakespeare”.

Life for many of Oxford´s residents revolves around the city´s age-old university, dating from the 12th century. Oxford University comprises of 39 individual colleges located throughout the city. The Bodleian library is the centrepiece of the university and contains between 6,5 and 7 million books. This number is ever increasing as the Bodleian is one of the privileged few libraries in Britain that automatically receive a copy of every book published in the country.
